These “radius†combination drills and countersinks are designed to reduce the bearing surface of the center hole and provide a protected centering seat while reducing the risk of breakage. Parts requiring turning on a lathe or cylindrical grinding are drilled with a combined drill/countersink to provide a seat or bearing surface for machining centers. When the parts machined pass through numerous operations, the protected center is accomplished by using a bell type countersink.
